Bridge-Building Between Politically diverse Populations
Once upon a time, people could talk about difficult subjects and respectfully disagree. And they enjoyed these robust conversations and went away from them still friends.
However, we are a long, long way from that now. Before we can even begin to corner and buttonhole one another in the spirit of enthusiastic debate, we must first learn how to see each other as part of the same tribe, instead of the enemies. And that won't happen until we learn to listen to one another without trying to change one another's minds. Where to begin? Learn how to invite someone of a different political stripe to speak, how to hear their passionate and good hearts, and how to help them hear yours. This can be a starting place. . . and maybe someday, you will engage in that high-spirited debate. . . but sitting at the same table, members of the same tribe, not enemies in opposite foxholes. Squawkalot teaches the skills for these initial meetings of mind and heart. It is the work we feel is most urgent for our times and our nation. Contact us for more information.
